That's right, the cat came back, and this time, with more. More what? More friends, more enemies, more action, more levels, more bosses, more story. More everything! Frebbventure Alliance takes the formula for a game that prided itself on being jam-packed no-frills action platforming madness, and does it even harder!
What's the game like? I never played your first game.
Take a traditional Mario or Sonic styled platformer. Add in combat and movesets inspired by the modern Kirby titles. Now, crank the intensity waaaaay up, add a style and ranking system, and throw in a story that packs in plenty of character and stakes, without taking up 80% of the game. Sound like a lot of fun? In my humble and unbiased opinion... it is!
The flagship feature of both games in the series, beyond any minor gimmicks, is the flow to the combat and platforming. Most small to midsize enemies go down in one to two hits, most attacks double up with some kind of unique movement utilities, you've got a dodge button that lets you cancel out of almost any action, and while deaths are frequent, checkpoints are, as well.
