Description

Blackhill Keep: Heir of the Night is a survival horror immersive sim in which you explore a cursed castle.

You have just arrived at the castle atop Blackhill, the ancestral home of the fallen Lemanius family of nobles.

Explore the castle, solve puzzles, and uncover the dark secrets of the Duke of Blackhill.

"Yet even he came to fear death, and in his desperation the Duke turned to dark magic to attain immortality."

GAMEPLAY

  • Explore the castle: Find keys, solve puzzles, and uncover many hidden secrets. The castle is a labyrinth of corridors, rooms, and hidden passages, each with its own dangers and mysteries. Outside you may find more freedom in your path options, but inside are narrow corridors and dark pathways that will weigh you down the deeper you venture.

  • Manage your resources: Keep track of your health and resources to survive against the perils of the castle. Manage your inventory and use your weapons wisely: your sword may lose its edge, your torch may run out of oil, and your crossbow may run out of bolts.

  • Interact with the environment: Use the environment to your advantage, moving objects, hiding and avoiding enemies. You can grab physics objects, push and pull them, and use them to solve puzzles and find hidden paths or items.

  • Fight or flee: You can fight the creatures that lurk in the castle, but sometimes it's better to run and hide. You can use your weapons to defend yourself, but remember that your resources are limited.

THE CASTLE ON THE HILL

Blackhill Keep is a mysterious place filled with secrets to be found and creatures to face. The catacombs of an ancient civilization, the ruins of an old palace, the curse of a Duke. All to be found within.

"Known to locals as "Blackhill Keep", the castle was home to the Lemanius family for centuries until their eventual demise during the 7th age.
The hill on which the castle was built has a rich history, having been the site of many battles and even another castle, centuries before the Lemanius family claimed it. According to locals of Levatsier, some parts of that ancient castle are still standing.

Legends speak of an ancient tribe that lived near the hill, and performed rituals to honor their deceased members."

HEIR OF THE NIGHT

Many decades ago, the Duke of Blackhill performed an unholy ritual to attain immortality. He sacrificed his own kin and servants for the sake of reaching his goal. It was a success, but one of his sons escaped that night, never to return to that accursed castle.

That son was your great-grandfather, and now you have come to Blackhill Keep to claim your inheritance.

"The Duke of Blackhill was unrelenting. Always faithful to his family and dukedom, he was a righteous and pragmatic ruler."

DEATH IS NEVER THE END

If you run out of health you will promptly wake up in a different part of the castle, having lost some of your items and progress.

"Inside this place lives a mysterious creature that lurks in the shadows. It still stalks the halls of the castle, still hoping to protect the Duke's bloodline.

Perhaps there is a way to communicate with it, or at least manipulate it to your advantage."

DENIZENS OF THE KEEP

Many creatures inhabit the Duke's castle, some are said to live there since the time of the Duke himself.

Some are friendly, others are hostile, and some are just indifferent to your presence.

Together, they form a complex ecosystem inside the castle, each denizen with its own behavior and role in the castle.
