Description
Among the Waves is a Metroidvania with platforming elements and a complex combat system, unfolding in a unique, meticulously crafted world inspired by Russian culture and art. Explore atmospheric locations where the past and future intersect, fight enemies, solve puzzles, and uncover secrets left behind by Alatyr-M and those carried by the Nameless One herself.
Alatyr-M is a black fortress, like a matryoshka doll hiding layers of Russian culture and aesthetics mixed with science fiction and esoteric mysticism. This is a place where Orthodox icons communicate with artificial intelligence, and prayers are written in notices on modular panel houses.
The Nameless One — a wanderer who arrived in the fortress from afar, possibly even from the depths of time. She carries a unique, divine child who grants her superhuman abilities and protection. Together, she and the player will explore the endless corridors of the black fortress to uncover the mystery of the Gates of Birth.
Combat System and Puzzles: Utilize the abilities of the heroine and her child to teleport and attack with waves of the mysterious Control Field. Open new paths and passages by experimenting with the physics of the world and the heroine’s weight.
Large, Nonlinear World: Travel through sprawling dungeons, grim districts, and abandoned cathedrals of Alatyr-M, discovering secrets, hidden rooms, alternative routes, and shortcuts to save points.
Immersive Religious and Philosophical Themes: Dive into a world where the religion of the Firstborn influences everything, shaping every aspect of life. The story unfolds through interactions with characters, texts, and discoveries along the way.
Challenging Boss Fights: Overcome foes who guard the ancient secrets of Alatyr-M — from ordinary to unique bosses, each encounter presenting a true test.
